This course teaches readers how to improve cultural competence during evaluation and treatment planning processes, and describes core competencies for mental health providers and how to develop them.

Objectives:

a). Identify at least one culturally appropriate screening/assessment tool.

b). Discuss how to assess readiness and motivation for change.

c). Describe how to incorporate cultural factors into treatment planning.

d). List the main core cultural competencies for mental health providers.

e.) Describe how to self-assess for individual cultural competence.

Target Audience:

The target audience for this event includes psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed counselors, MFT’s, and other clinical mental health professionals.
