About this course

This course discusses a variety of sleep-related topics, including a description of stages of sleep, how much sleep humans need, the purpose of sleep, dreaming, circadian rhythms, and sleep disorders and their treatment.

Objectives:

a. Identify the five stages of sleep.

b. Name at least two of the signs and two of the consequences of sleep deprivation.

c. Discuss what is known about why we sleep.

d. Describe the four most common types of sleep disorders and treatment options for each.
